Глобальними викликами для України стало поширення COVID‐19 та повномасштабне вторгнення, що зумовило перехід на дистанційне навчання. Метою статті є дослідження викликів XXI століття та перспектив розвитку інновацій у вищій освіті. При проведенні дослідження було використано загальнонаукові та науково‐педагогічні методи. Проаналізовано матеріально‐технічну готовність університетів до використання інноваційних технологій. Розтлумачено поняття «методична гнучкість педагога» та «інноваційна педагогіка. Наведено порівняльний аналіз професійної підготовки педагога у наш час та у майбутньому. Окреслено перспективи інновацій у системі вищої освіти. A key trend in the development of innovations in education is the use of new approaches in the educational process, information technologies, innovative forms and methods to create a digital, competitive society that can ensure the social and economic development of the state. The spread of the COVID‐19 virus and full‐scale Russian aggression have become global challenges for Ukraine, which has led to a transition from the traditional model to distance learning. Despite the fact that distance education can be obtained anywhere and at any time, its implementation in the Ukrainian higher education system has led to a number of problems and prospects for innovative development in higher education. However, thanks to innovations, the higher education system continues to function. The purpose of the article is to study the challenges of the XXI century and the prospects for the development of innovations in higher education. General scientific methods of cognition and scientific and pedagogical methods were used. Based on the results of the study, the challenges that have led to innovative development in higher education in the twenty‐first century are identified. It is noted that the innovative development of the higher education system and the state is a strategic goal of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, as well as an important condition for Ukraine's integration into the European Union. The material and technical readiness of higher education institutions to use innovative technologies is analyzed. The concepts of “methodological flexibility of the teacher” and “innovative pedagogy” are explained. A comparative analysis of the professional training of teachers in our time and in the future is presented. Prospects for innovative development in the higher education system are outlined.
