In the context of globalization, the foreign language communicative competence of lawyers and police officers becomes especially important. Such competence allows for a better understanding of the persons when they do not speak the native language of the lawyer or the police officer. The study aims to identify cases where foreign language communicative competence has a special significance for lawyers and police officers. The research employs analysis, synthesis, generalization, and formal-structural methods. The paper examines a set of norms regulating the use of foreign language communicative competence by lawyers and police officers in civil, criminal, administrative, and economic legal proceedings. The study analyzes the necessity of proficiency in a second, non-native language based on various legislative acts, including the Constitution of Ukraine, the Law of Ukraine "On Security Activities," the Law of Ukraine "On the Judiciary and the Status of Judges," the Law of Ukraine "On the National Police," the Law of Ukraine "On the Bar and Legal Practice," and the Law of Ukraine "On Notariate." S.Мета статті полягала в здійсненні емпіричного аналізу ефективності мобільних додатків у процесі вивчення іноземних мов у закладах вищої освіти України. Здійснене дослідження ґрунтувалося на виявленні ефективності мобільних додатків за такими параметрами, як лексико-граматична, мовленнєво-фонетична, інтеракційна, країнознавчо-міжкультурна, технічно-інформаційна та перекладацька компетентності. Визначено, що мобільні додатки є найбільш ефективними під час опанування здобувачами вищої освіти лексичних та граматичних норм. Вони допомагають отримати знання, навички та вміння інформаційно-комунікаційного характеру. Водночас спостерігаються дещо нижчі можливості мобільних додатків для розвитку комунікативної та міжкультурної взаємодії. Респонденти вважають, що більше можливостей для цього надає безпосереднє спілкування з носіями мови та особисте знайомство з соціокультурним фундаментом відповідної нації. Кластерний аналіз дозволив згрупувати здобувачів вищої освіти за п’ятьма основними групами. При цьому респонденти, об’єднані першим кластером, вважають, що мобільні додатки є найбільш ефективними для формування лексико-граматичної та технічно-інформаційної компетент-ностей; представники другого кластера позитивно оцінюють значення мобільних додатків для розвитку мовленнєво-фонетичної, технічно-інформаційної та лексико-граматичної компетентностей; здобувачі освіти, об’єднані третім кластером, вказують на ефективність мобільних додатків під час формування інтеракційної та країнознавчо-міжкультурної компетентностей. Респонденти, об’єднані четвертим кластером, схильні до визнання неефективності мобільних додатків для вивчення іноземної мови; натомість представники п’ятого кластера високо оцінюють можливості мобільних додатків за всіма вимірюваними параметрами. Загалом, приблизно чверть здобувачів вищої освіти оцінюють ефективність мобільних додатків як низьку, дві п’ятих – як середню, одна шоста – як вищу за середню, одна п’ята – як високу. The importance and relevance of mobile applications in the life of a modern person is difficult to overestimate. This fully applies to the study of a foreign language, including within the framework of higher education in Ukraine. Thus, the purpose of the article was to conduct an empirical analysis of the effectiveness of mobile applications in the process of learning foreign languages in higher education institutions of Ukraine. The conducted research was based on the identification of the effectiveness of mobile applications according to such parameters as lexical-grammatical, speech-phonetic, interactive, country studies-intercultural, technical-informational and translation competence. According to the obtained results, mobile applications are characterized by the greatest effectiveness in mastering lexical and grammatical norms by students and provide knowledge, skills and abilities of an information and communication nature. At the same time, there are somewhat smaller possibilities of mobile applications for the development of communicative and intercultural interaction. Respondents believe that more opportunities for this are provided by direct communication with native speakers and personal acquaintance with the socio-cultural foundation of the respective nation. Cluster analysis made it possible to group students into five main groups. At the same time, the respondents united by the first cluster believe that mobile applications are the most effective for forming lexical-grammatical and technical-informational competence; representatives of the second cluster positively evaluate the value of mobile applications for the development of speech-phonetic, technical-informational and lexical-grammatical competences; students united by the third cluster note the effectiveness of the formation of interactive and country studies and intercultural competences. Students united by the fourth cluster tend to recognize the ineffectiveness of mobile applications for learning a foreign language; instead, the respondents belonging to the fifth cluster highly evaluate the capabilities of mobile applications in all measured parameters. The article deals with the necessity and peculiarities of implementing a practical component during binary classes on the discipline “Foreign language for professional purposes” with practical police officers and native-speakers of a foreign language, which contributes to the formation of foreign language communicative competence of future police officers. The aim of the article is to determine the didactic and methodical conditions under which the organization and conduct of binary classes in the discipline “Foreign language for professional purposes” will be effective and will contribute to the formation of foreign language communicative competence of future police officers and their readiness to communicate in a foreign language during the performance of official duties. One of the factors stimulating cadets' interest in studying a foreign language is conducting binary classes with employees of law enforcement bodies. Протягом багатьох років кафедра іноземних мов Донецького державного університету внутрішніх справ проводить всеукраїнські науково-практичні конференції іноземними мовами на тему «Правоохоронні органи на охороні правопорядку та конституційні свободи громадян». Курсанти доповідають та спілкуються на професійно орієнтованих конференціях іноземною мовою, демонструють навички іншомовного мовлення в науковому стилі. Здобувачі вищої освіти також регулярно беруть участь у наукових конференціях, що проводяться у закладах вищої освіти МВС України. Participating in scientific conferences in foreign languages is one of the forms of realizing the formation of foreign language communicative competence of the applicants. During the preparation of a scientific paper, they define the topic, study foreign sources, conduct a comparative analysis and express their opinion. For many years, the Department of Foreign Languages of Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs has been holding all-Ukrainian scientific and practical conferences in foreign languages on the topic "Law enforcement agencies protecting law and order and constitutional freedoms of citizens." Cadets report and communicate at professionally oriented conferences in a foreign language, demonstrate foreign language speaking skills in a scientific style. The processes taking place in the educational space of Ukraine have made possible the situation in which the teacher has the right and opportunity to choose the model of building courses in any academic subject, including foreign languages, choose textbooks, manuals and other teaching methods. Under such conditions, the teacher really feels like an equal master in the organization of the educational process, because, relying on his own professional experience and taking into account the objective and subjective factors of this process, he provides himself with everything necessary, which he believes will contribute to his effective activities and successful implementation of goals and objectives. The article analyzes the concept of foreign communication competence and states that the fluency of foreign language is evidence of the professional potential of a law enforcement specialist. У дослідженні використовуються різні методи для вивчення того, як студенти можуть покращити свої навички спілкування іноземною мовою. Було розглянуто існуючі дослідження та зроблено опитування, щоб дізнатися більше про те, як студенти можуть покращити свої мовні навички. Результати дослідження розкривають основні напрями наукових розробок з питань формування іншомовної комунікативної компетенції студентів юридичних спеціальностей. З'ясовано пріоритетність розробки, оцінку компонентів та процедуру цього процесу з практичної точки зору. У роботі підкреслюється важливість іншомовної комунікативної компетентності у галузі права та висвітлює проблеми, з якими стикаються студенти під час набуття цих навичок. This paper focuses on the development of foreign language communicative competence of students studying law. The research used different methods to study how students studying law can improve their ability to communicate in a foreign language. There was looked at existing research and did a survey to understand more about how students can improve their language skills. The results of the study reveal the main directions of scientific developments on issues related to the formation of foreign language communicative competence of students of law specialties. The priority of development, assessment of components, and the procedure of this process from a practical point of view have been clarified. The paper emphasizes the importance of foreign language communicative competence in the field of law and highlights the challenges that students face in acquiring these skills.
