G.; Myroshnychenko N. O.The facts presented in the article indicate that the only possible form of mass education in Ukraine in war conditions is synchronous distance learning. An analysis of relevant modern foreign and domestic studies has shown that researchers consider feedback in the learning process as one of the central concepts in education, paying considerable attention to the characteristics of feedback forms, including the formative one, but the ways of its implementation in the process of synchronous distance learning have not been sufficiently studied. The authors' study proves that in synchronous distance learning of ESP on the ZOOM platform, formative feedback is possible under certain technical and didactic conditions. Formative feedback is possible and should occur at all stages of the ESP session. The article describes the practices of organizing effective formative feedback used by the authors of the study while teaching all types of speech activity: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Compared to offline learning, synchronous distance learning significantly increases the share of formative peer feedback, which contributes not only to the activation of the educational process, but also to the socialization of students. The study focuses on the fact that feedback is a two-way process that affects the performance of both the recipient of feedback and the one who gives it. О.; Леонардос М.The authors have analyzed the conceptual framework of self-directed learning theory; described some issues of self-directed learning within the field of higher education in the North America and identified some challenges of self-directed English for Specific Purposes (ESP) learning in the Ukrainian Economic University setting; shared some practical information about using it as a pedagogical tool in an ESP (Business English) classroom for advanced learners in the context of Ukrainian Economic University; characterized the ESP course containing a self-directed learning component; showed who is more likely to become an efficient self-directed ESP learner; presented some ideas on the role of the teacher in involving students in self-directed ESP learning; selected several ways to foster an ESP learner autonomy: established a number of economic benefits of self-directed ESP learning. Автори проаналізували концептуальну основу теорії самоорієнтовного навчання; описав деякі проблеми самостійного навчання у сфері вищої освіти в Північній Америці та визначив деякі проблеми самостійного навчання англійської мови для спеціальних цілей (ESP) в умовах Українського економічного університету; поділилася деякою практичною інформацією щодо використання його як педагогічного інструменту в класі ESP (ділової англійської мови) для поглиблених учнів у контексті Українського економічного університету; охарактеризував курс ESP, що містить компонент самостійного навчання; показали, хто з більшою ймовірністю стане ефективним самокерованим учнем ESP; представили деякі ідеї щодо ролі вчителя в залученні учнів до самостійного навчання англійської мови спеціального вжитку; вибрав кілька способів сприяння самостійності учня ESP: встановив низку економічних переваг самостійного навчання ESP.
